Why inert?
/iˈnərt/
adjective, meaning chemically inactive.
My Inert Life is a celebration of NOT reacting to histamine, EMFs, and environmental triggers. Come along as I share what helped me to stop reacting to food and environmental triggers with low-histamine Keto recipes, tips, and tricks for living a non-reactive life!
This blog describes my journey with Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS) from experiencing a downward health spiral and only tolerating a dozen foods, to now being able to exercise and add new foods daily. Along the way, I remediated mold, moved to a new house, worked with a building biologist to create a home free of wifi, EMFs, unhealthy magnetic fields, and dirty electricity, treated underlying infections and toxicities, and created a life where I can thrive.
I chose the name My Inert Life after the frustration of reacting to just about everything, including healthy organic whole foods, essential oils, ordinary scents, emotional triggers, stress, electromagnetic frequencies, heat and cold, exercise, hormonal fluctuations, sleep disturbance, chemicals, barometric pressure changes, mold, dust, pollen, smoke, wool, air pollution, new product off-gassing, sunlight, colored light, insect venom, pressure, hypoallergenic makeup and jewelry, and many other things.
My reactions ranged from minor skin rashes to hives, from breathing difficulty to near anaphylaxis, from inflammation to digestive upset, from shortness of breath to tachycardia, and many others. I’ve experienced more types of migraines than I can name, and lived with chronic pain for decades before finding the triggers to keep it from happening.
My chronic illness journey
In 1990, I contracted Lyme disease and began a downward health spiral. I hit bottom in 2020 when I had several concussions and entered an undiagnosed Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS) flare. I could only eat a dozen foods, reacted to multitudes of environmental stimuli, and couldn’t walk a block.
I decided that I had to find a better way, which led me to discover that I had MCAS and start my journey back to health.
I’m excited to share my healing path with you, to provide lifesaving tips for those experiencing chronic health challenges, and to empower you to find your own inert life!
